Honors Psychology for Top Law Schools?

Hi everyone,

I am a college sophomore who recently transferred to Vanderbilt from a Tier 3 university. I was a music major for my freshman year, but I now plan on majoring in psychology and am wondering if I should enroll in the Research Concentration or Research with Honors program at Vandy.

My biggest concern is whether or not it is worth it for me to risk obtaining a lower GPA than I otherwise might get if I stay in the General Program. I currently have a 3.96 GPA from the first university I attended, but please keep in mind that the rigor of the program there is highly questionable and that nearly all of the kids there scored abysmally on their SAT's (1200 or less on average, probably).

My goal is to get into Harvard or Yale Law. I'd gladly sell my soul to get into either of them.

Any advice is appreciated.

You will need a very high GPA and a very high LSAT score to get into H or Y law. It’s up to you what route to take in terms of your academics. You may want to speak with the Vandy law advisor … you will have to go to a law school info session first, though. The law advisor will not meet with you until you have attended an info session.
