Do you guys have any special hooks to make you more interesting to the adcoms? I mean, like things besides great test scores, high gpa, lots of ECs etc.?

you're supposed to start!

international athletics recruit.

you must be kidding me!!! I thought internationals couldnt do that......oh my God I just missed my chance....(800m, 1500m sprint athlete over here ...lol).

Anyways, I dont really have one.....unless oh yeah

I was the president of a company that organized the first "teens based" beauty pageant in my country.... YEah wierd for a guy that wants to study engineering...lol

im not sure if they can, but by chance i met the soccer coaches at tournaments in canada, and after meeting them etc they put me on their list.

btw, its worth pointing out, that this doesnt necessarily guarantee admission.

I meant more along the lines of experiences and stuff, to fit into all their diversity stuff... because we all know that whether you agree with it or not, diversity is what really gets the adcoms going... Why else would they reject so many people with perfect scores/gpa/ECs?

I would say that my main hook (like the thing that appears most throughout my essays and everything) is that I have basically grown up in a war zone, and seen lots of people die and stuff, so I think that I will add a lot of persepective to the student body blah blah blah

I'm from a state where a lot of people don't go to Princeton. Not Dakota-esque but not New York or Calif either

1 dental hosa champion in the nation

neurosurgical internship + two more hospital internships
'nuff said.

Lived all over the world-not with the military; I have a kick-a** essay on diversity

I started my own club and mini-business to fund it. It is a high power rocketry club. Hopefully they need rocketeers.

robby r u applying to pton Ed, cos i thought i saw u applying somewhere else?

I'm #1 HS bass trombonist in new york state right now. Hope the music staff rights me a letter from my supplement....

Uggh...this is depressing me because I'm essentially hookless (compared to you guys). However, I am very involved with journalism (school paper editor, internship with "real" paper, etc.) and should have a good rec from the newspaper advisor, who also happens to be my Spanish teacher of 4 years!

my 1st is a random one....filmmaking...

Filmmaking: Started film club, my films/documentaries shown at San Diego Theatres, NorCal tv channels, the History Channel, IB teacher's conferences world wide.... also created small instructional videos such as tennis-stringing-instructions for tanzanian tennis team as part of nationally recognized tennis service project i started 2 years ago.... and a lot more...won national awards for them...

Tennis: USTA Team Tennis Northern California 1st Place
Varsity 4 years
Team Captain
Division II Champions
high school NorCal Sections Finalist

are these hooks anyway????

Anything can be a hook, really.

I feel so typical, now. I'm just your well-rounded applicant -- IB Diploma candidate, 2nd in my class, Key Club President, decent community service.

i dunno i am getting worried day by day as all the people who i know applied last year from my school to princeton who had crazy ec's got rejected...one was school president, had national awards in science olympiad and science bowl, did science research ,etc. etc. etc......:(

i play table tennis.

I disco dance.
