I have been thinking about the hopes for a consistent low ranker of the class to be accepted by 'good' schools. Not talking of the IVY League and others but still considerably good. Seeing that getting accepted in a college is just more than ranks and marks and scores, but as everyone says High School marks play a big role in the selection.

I have a mediocre school grades, a little above average extra curricular and from the last year I have my SAT I score of 2,250. Going to take the SAT Subject for Physics and Maths coming September. Extremely bad at sports, though not fat, not in bad shape. I have already completed my 12th from CBSE and doing some volunteer work (not for any direct social cause though).

Feel free to ask for more details, but I am guessing this should be sufficient.
Good day.

Actually it is not, you didn’t list your GPA (UW and W if possible), extracurriculars, or grades or anything. Colleges don’t accept students based on scores it’s a “holistic” process that involves essays, recommendations, grades, test scores etc. We can’t really help you with that information, different schools have different GPAs that are considered “low rank”. Does “low rank” for your school mean you have a 3.5, a 3.2, or less than that?

I am just looking for a overall view rather than focusing on my own grades, but since you mentioned it and if it will help you to help me better.
Since I don’t belong to US or schools that follow american system, I don’t have GPA on 4.0 scale.
My CGPA in 10th was 8.0 and the percentage in 11th was 70% and in 12th was 80% (79.8). It would make me stand around the middle of my class, not the top but far up from bottom.
