Hopeless?

Okay, here's another one of those "post-my-resume-for-an-opinion" threads, but I'm feeling pretty dejected and desperate. I'm pretty sure I scored poorly on my AP chemistry exam, so with that and the following "so-so" transcript/resume, can anyone give me some feedback in regards to how I can improve my chances of getting into an Ivy, or what my slim chances are, etc...? (btw, I'm a junior...time's running out, I know. Ahhh!) Oh, and my sister is currently attending Yale University if siblings somehow have an influence...

wow, since when is being valedictorian hopeless. WHAT HAS THIS COMPETITIVE WORLD GONE TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
clap clap clap good application.

Thanks rExRuN467, but really, there's nothing there that really seems to make me stand out from the crowd. Not to mention my test scores don't exactly have that wow factor either and the fact that I probably got a 1 on the AP chemistry exam. Still feeling like I don't amount to enough..

Hopeless? Yes.

It looks like your tests scores are the only thing that might hold you back. Try to raise your SAT to 2250 and I think you'll have a good shot at anywhere in the country.

yeah seriously, and i dont even think you need a 2250 (except HYP)

With Val status + lots of good EC's, I would say you are good to go just about everywhere except HYP w/ a 2100 (you could still get in HYP but it would be unlikely...no offense, it's like that for everyone).

I think you still might hit one of the Ivies like Brown, Penn, or Cornell if you get lucky even if your scores dont go up.

But seriously tho, the SAT is not so bad...150 points is not that big of a deal! you should be able to do that & then your set.

PS The 1 on AP Chem means nothing...just don't submit it on your app & they'll most likely never know.

You will have a shot at most schools you apply to. Your SAT is a little low, but it should not stop you from getting into most schools. If you can raise your SAT by 200 points, you will be in much better shape.

um, i think the local dog pound is looking for new hires; so, chin up, and forge ahead with catching many flea-infested mutts as u can!!! (how many can u catch, what is your true potential?)

Definitely need to raise your SAT score... a 1950 is weak. That's weird that you're valedictorian though with only a 1950. Improve that to about 2200+ and then you're set.

You're still a jr? So you can retake the SATs! Raise up your SAT grade and study for SAT2s if needed. You're not hopeless. I mean, you won't get into Yale, but OMG!!... You'll live. :)

That's true nothing stands out about you. You're not the president and founder of the "Youth Cancer Cure Foundation" or anything. So just get more involved with the clubs you are in.

Thanks for the input everyone. So obviously my first priority is to raise my SAT scores, which I already knew. I already have study prep books from Princeton Review, College Board, and a few other random ones but those only go so far right? Any tips for the actually taking the test or preparing for the test? I know there's no real secret; you pretty much got it or you don't, but anything helps. Thanks again.

whats your score breakdown. private msg me if you want...i might be able to help you a bit.
