Hopkins ED (ALWAYS has been my first choice)

I've been wanting to attend Johns Hopkins ever since I can remember however, now I feel as though I haven't the slightest chance of getting in. My GPA is rather low. During my 9th and 10th grade years of high school, my mother was having a hard time remembering things and in 2005 she was diagnosed which played a large role because I spend a great deal of my time trying to do the things that my mother couldn't do and had a hard time dealing with the fact that acting like a "normal" teen was no longer in the cards for me. My mother came in and out of John Hopkins Hospital with doctors still unsure of what illness she really had (its still up in the air although things seem to be looking upward!) Johns Hopkins has been a major centerfold in my life since the age of 6 because before we caught onto my mother's illness, I have flown up their every two months for my eyes exams (I've had many eye surgeries there up at Wilmer.)

The basics-
Class rank-42/515 (from a competitive public high school)
GPA uw-3.59 (did terrible freshman year, thats for sure.)
W-4.5
I've taken 11 APS (4 in my junior and 4 in my senior year, all A's in junior year.)

SATS- (horrible, ACTS in sep and oct if needed and 3 SAT II's in Oct.)
M-470, W-630 R-620

E.C.'s-
Treasure of my debate team (its a rather "big deal" because our debate team is nationally recognized and we have over 200 plus members)
Oratory squad leader
Vice president of Key Club
Founder and President of The History Club
Junior Rep for Key Club
Treasurer of Young Democrats(founding member)
Debate Chair of JSA (newly formed at my school)
Member of NHS and NEHS
Member of the Asian club

200 plus volunteer hours from working at a hospital and worked at a children's camp for over 4 years.
Right now, I've been trying to start up some programs for the M.S. society.

Truth be told, I guess what i'm trying to say is that do I have a chance at Hopkins ED, with an interview in the fall??? Sorry for the uber long narrative up above. If anyone could give me any helpful hints/ideas that would be great! Oh, and i'm looking to apply for as a History major.

If Hopkins is your #1, go ED. Finish the process with no regrets. Good luck!

If you raise that SAT by 300 points, you'll stand a much better chance. Get a Barron's book and start memorizing vocab. And maybe get Princeton review for math prep. As a side note, you seem to know and have a bond with JHU medicine and the hospital. But that is a separate and distinct entity from the JHU homewood undergrad campus. Have you researched the undergrad college enough to do ED?

^ agree with the guy above, you could still go to JHU med school even if you don't make it undergrad--the med school and the hospital at large are the places that you have grown so attached to anyway ;)

raise you SAT, show passion in your essays [but given that you want to go to jhu, you'll be fine], and just kick back and enjoy senior year!! i think its going to be very tough for you to get in [unless you raise your sat by a good amount], but anything is possible during ED, so just do the best you can on the essays and keep your fingers crossed :)

good luck, I hope you make it!

edit: oh, and you DEFINITELY have "a" chance of getting in!!
