Hotchkiss Discussion and Q&A

@iamveryconfused I would say the dress code is pretty relaxed, especially compared the the old one! Maybe you’re looking under the “special event dress” section of the almanac. The section you’re expected to follow during the class day is “class dress”. It is pretty strictly enforced, and people usually “dress up, not down”, meaning many people will wear blazers or dresses, even if we don’t have to.

Just following up on the questions about the co-curricular requirements. Anyone who considers themselves non-athletic will not have to worry about finding something that satisfies the requirements. While you do sometimes have to do a co-curricular that will make you sweat, lots of the sports-related co-curriculars are pretty relaxed and accommodating of students with no prior experience. “Club puck” (ice hockey) always has some kids who have never ice skated before in their lives, and there are some exercise classes that can count as a co-curricular. My kids both learned to play sports they’d never played before at all (football and squash for my son, volleyball and softball for my daughter) and they became really passionate about them. But they also did non-athletic co-curriculars too, like sports media (taking photographs for the sports teams) and HDA (drama productions).
