This should be an interesting match. I would love to say that I think Hotchkiss will smash Exeter to bits but I can't.

Our best player got kicked off by the ref in our game against Taft (the officials later apologized and said they made a mistake) the agreement was they would not report the incident because they made a mistake and would let our best player (Number 4) play. We then told this to Exeter's head coach who also agreed not to say anything. THEN the exeter head of athletics goes ahead and rats out on our guy so he gets kicked out. Total BS. Well now I have no clue how we are going to win this thing, just have to hope I suppose. If we had our full strength it would have been a good match. I have a strong dislike for Exeter's head of athletics now. Exeter's captain is also out I believe but I have heard their running back is a beast.

Go Hotchkiss ! What do you guys think of this match. Who will win ?

The Andover-Exeter game was played in a monsoon combined with driving winds. While both QBs did an OK job of passing considering the awful conditions the difference was Exeter’s tailback (#21 if my memory serves me correctly). He absolutely shredded the Andover defense. For Hotechkiss to win they have to bottle him up before he can get up a head of steam as he was very difficult to bring down.

That’s not true. We beat taft without no 4 in the game for most of the game. Our receiver is the fastest kid in New England. Our defense in solid. Even without number 4 we have an extremely solid team. It just so happens that No.4 is the man and makes an extremely good team godly (well insofar as prep schools are concerned).

fif has been waiting for all of the injury and scouting reports to come in before making his picks. Remember, fif is a regular Nostrodamus the Greek when it comes to this stuff, so these are locks. Bet the house and the dog.

Suffield - King

King has a tailback going to Penn State and a fullback headed to BC and they are legit (saw them last weekend). fif suspects that they will not repeat their loss to Milton last year, 'tho the 1833 Tigers are tough. King 34-24.

Exeter-Hotchkiss

fif would have predicted a close game until the news that 'Kiss #4 was out (Wilson?).
Exeter back may be best in NE (see above). FWIW, this story with the ejection doesn’t sound kosher. An ejectable offense is usually just that, and referees seldom admit they made a mistake. The coaches and referees conspiring to keep it quiet is a little stinky too. Sounds like some enmity between the two old rivals and we like it!

Exeter 28-14

Brooks - Pingree

fif will go with the ISL here to defeat the upstart Pingeeians (ites?).

Brooks 21-6.

Canterbury - New Hampton

New Hampton, once a Class A power, is back. On the other hand, da Saints have a very good team this year and have killed a number of opponents. Toughest call of the day and probably the closest game.

Canterbury 28-26

KUA - Lawrence

This may be a mis-match. The KUA Wildcats don’t play in a leaugue the caliber of Lawrence’s and the Spartan’s defeat of BB&N (game sounded like a classic), means that they may be the best team in NE.

We have like four captains. Which one are you talking about?

The Exeter/ Andover game was ridiculous. It was freezing and wet and the scoreboard didn’t work for half the game.

I think the Exeter Hotchkiss game should be pretty close. Exter’s undefeated but Hotchkiss has only lost one game this year. It should be a good game. I would go but there’s Fall Ball

Yes … the Exeter - Hotchkiss game is for the NE 1A crown. Hotchkiss is the defending champ from 2008.
I would like to hear more about the heinous infraction the Kissy #4 player accomplished that would prevent him from playing in the NE Championships. Would this affect his scholarship to play in college?
When is Lawrence going to be booted up a league?

Lawrence plays in the ISL. They would never leave that league, would make no sense due to the size of the school, geographic location etc. The top “bowl” game has included teams from the ISL (Belmont Hill beat Hotchkiss in 2004) regularly but does not this year. Not sure Lawrence needs to be “booted” anywhere, some schools find streaks of success and Lawrence is in one of those streaks. I played football at Groton during a streak where we found great success in the ISL and I think recent history indicates that Groton is exactly where they belong. The leagues are pretty stable and over the long-term Lawrence will come back to the pack in the ISL. The BB&N game did sound fantastic. FIF, solid prediction. Exeter’s running back is very talented. I saw one of their games and he was great but the rest of the team is solid but not fantastic. Prediction: Hotchkiss 24, Exeter 21. Also, one does not have to commit a “heinous” infraction to get kicked out of a game and any player removed must sit out the following match according to NEPSAC rules. Does sound strange that the refs admitted a mistake. Wilson is a very nice kid and he’s a junior so this likely has absolutely no affect on recruiting.

Just talked to an AD who returned from the athletic director’s meeting on Friday. #4 from Hotchkiss was being kneed in the groin while on the ground(rather intensely from what I gather) by a Taft player and retaliated with a shove apparently to protect himself. The refs did throw him out but after talking it over amongst themselves and spectators/coaches did acknowledge that they had overreacted. The Exeter coach was informed and agreed that #4 should be allowed to play (very classy). So #4 is playing tonight for Hotchkiss and the Exeter AD apparently never got involved. Revised score prediction Hotchkiss 30 Exeter 21.

hola3, that was what WAS going to happen. The Exeter COACH is a real gentleman and agreed to it all. The athletic director found out somehow and spilled the beans. Wilson, our number 4 will not be playing tonight. I just talked to him 30 minutes ago, trust me on this. We still have Number 11, and Exeter best defense man is out (he is a captain) but htey still have their running back which is a huge problem for us. I still think Hotchkiss can pull it off and will win but it will be tight. We still have our number 11, who is playing for BC next year.

Oh yeah, fif just returned from the Harvard-Yale game where he witnessed the single stupidest coaching decision in the history of football, which cost Yale the game. This would include Pop Warner, High School, College, Semi-Pro, NFL, USFL, WFL, CFL and the Universe League (this year’s champion was Beta 9). Here’s a hint: up 10 with under 7 to play, you face 4th and 25 from your own twenty. You possess possibly the best punter in Yale history, certainly in the Ivy League this year. No brainer right?
