any opinions --PM if that is more appropriate -- on hotels in the West Point area for R-Day... the Thayer looks to already be full

The various parent club websites are fun to check out if you are surfing around - they all have a little different personality as well as information shared. Some are more active than others as far as the web is concerned. For example this one has a list of hotels with ratings (subjective but helpful): http://www.west-point.org/parent/wppc-ne-ohio/wp_experience.htm

The class memory pages are also a great place to lets photos do the talking. The "Links" pages are full of information.

We usually stay at the Marriott Courtyard in Newburgh. It's only a little far, but is usually filled with West Point families for the big events. Also the staff is great with the West Point community. There are some really good restaurants nearby, lots of good food can be delivered to the room if you want a quiet evening watching movies, it's close to Stewart (the airport in Newburgh). There is good shopping with easy access to a few malls including a very nice discount mall. And I love the fact that there is a terrific day spa about a mile away.
