How many hours of classes does a college student have each day on average?

@1zogden1 most courses I’ve taken meet between 3 and 5 hours a week. Multiply that by the number of courses you’re taking; you do the math.
That depends entirely on the way your schedule is set up and when your classes meet. For example (not counting my music rehearsals), next semester I’m taking 5 academic classes, but I have about 2 hours of class on MWF (2 classes each day), 5 hours on Tuesdays (4 classes), and 4 hours Thursdays (3 classes). Last semester, took 6 academic classes, and I had about 3.5 hours on Mondays (3 classes), 4 hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays (3 classes), and 2 hours on Wednesdays and Fridays (2 classes each day). Some of my friends don’t even have class every day (Friday seems like a common day for them not to have class).
Assuming a very average course load spread out evenly across weekdays (15 credits across 5 days) – 2-3 hours of class a day. Taking more/less credits, stacking courses on certain days, taking courses that meet once a week, labs, and so on will change this.
On average how much actual homework or study is needed daily to keep up and be prepared? Assuming a generic science major
Also depends if you are on quarters or semesters somewhat.
@TytoAlba Depends on the class and the professor, and with how you are with the subject. The rule of thumb is to expect two hours of work (studying, homework, projects, etc) outside of class for every hour spent in class. But some classes may require more or less time. As you take more classes you start to get a feel for exactly how much time you’ll need to devote to a given class.
It depends on how many credit hours you take. A typical course load is 15 credit hours, so that equals roughly 15 hours in class per week. At my school, it is actually only 2.5 hours in class for a 3 hour class, so my average day would be about 2.5 hours
