It’s like living in a sauna!
The crazy house does not blend in the neighborhood at all. That is going to take a very specific buyer and I hope they tone down the exterior a bit. I’m laughing thinking abouta City inspector coming to do inspections while that house was remodeled with checkerboard and everything outside. This neighborhood does not have any HOA type requirements, you can build anything you want as long as it’s under 30 feet. You can even block your neighbor’s view
The large fancy expensive house has a very sordid history. Not sure I should go into details, unless everyone is interested. Let’s just say the owner is not alive and it probably took a long time getting it to market trying to figure out who had legal authority to sell it
Oh wow, sure, now I remember when that hit the news. Sad history.
I saw it was listed as a “probate sale” on Redfin.
Care to share the story?
Google the street address and “accident”.
It is alway fascinating to know the stories of houses that have been around for a while. Sad or not. Let’s say I researched the heck out of our house previous owners’ histories, and one led me to do some specific environmental tests on the place which thank goodness turned up nothing.
Oh yikes. I dunno…. I would not want to buy a house where THAT sort of stuff happened.
BunsenBurner - I kinda of don’t hate the all wood house! I think I’ve been influenced by all the “mountain cabin style” homes I’ve been purusing - thinking about Stage 2 life in the mountains! They do grow on you.
I think that house is GORGEOUS! It would sell in a hot minute here.
I actually like it it would look great here on the lake by the mountains, not so much where it’s currently located. The only problem is lots of wood in the south would = lots of carpenter
How much would you offer to cut down the large tree that is in the middle of your view of the water?
I also kinda like the wood house. It’s fun in a retro way. But I’m sure whoever buys it will either paint over all the wood or completely remodel it. I think it’s nice to have a house that’s not a cookie cutter white and gray shell. But that is what seems to be in vogue right now.
Here is a similar one in my neck of the woods. https://www.redfin.com/NC/Chapel-Hill/Undisclosed-address-27516/home/176585412 Been on the market 13 days. I expect it will sell soon. It’s gorgeous.
i have a beloved uncle, whose house is all wood inside like that one above. It’s cool. It was built in a forest on a hill and they basically didnt want to tear any trees down to build it. I just could never wrap my mind about that though - all wood inside, but not wanting to tear down trees to build it! I’m enjoying seeing all these homes though.
Love the wood house but I do wonder about maintenance of the exterior- might need recoated frequently.
Not to mention all those skylights, which will need to be maintained or they’ll leak one day.
Why do you think that? My house was built in 1973 and has two skylights that have never leaked in the 24 years we’ve been in the house. And we live in the South where it rains buckets.
This is a suburb of Seattle.
The “cabin” look is completely out of sync with the interior finishes and furniture. And the two cheap fridges side by side in the kitchen and no visible stove or hood just puzzling. Plus, the place is very broken up by walls here and there. Not like the NC house above!
@Marilyn :Pls send me a PM. I can’t find the info. Thx
Sent you a PM.
the latest one put up by @Sweetgum has logs holding up the kitchen island counter !
