Housing and Meal Plans

Does anyone know if financial aid will cover housing and meal plans? I was awarded Cal Grant A, but I'm not sure if it will cover some of my housing and meal costs. I still need to send in my parent verification packet so I do not know how much aid I will get at SC. Also, do they also charge the costs monthly or quarterly? And what exactly are the "Flexi Dollars" about?

Housing and meal plans (and living expenses, and school supplies, etc) are included in the total cost of attending college. Financial Aid can be used to cover any and all of the above.

For UCSC, you have two options:

1: Pay the full bill before the CalGrant is applied. Financial Aid cuts you a check, use it for school supplies, toiletries, plane tickets home, etc. Basically anything you need petty cash for.
2: Pay the bill minus the CalGrant, I think that’s pretty self explanatory?

Flexi Dollars are kinda like Disney Dollars. It’s money you can use for the cafes on campus, like cash, except you can only use it at specific eateries and you can only cash it out at the end of the school year if you have over $10 left. I think every meal plan includes $50 flexis and you can purchase more if you want.

Student Business Services will bill you once a quarter by default. You can switch it to monthly by paying a fee (everything involves fees…) and filling out an online form.
