<p>Must be a regional difference in the way people word things. When I say, "even though it's off of Green Street, it is pretty close to the center campus buildings," I mean to say that it is technically a Green Street House but closer to the center campus buildings than the other Green Street houses. In the NW when we (natives) give the general location for a place, people often say "its just off whatever street" but mean that its street address is on "whatever street." I don't know why -- maybe because the building isn't actually on the street, its off the street. :-)</p>
