Housing - Learning Communities

What are each house “stereotypes”/characteristics of typical students in each and are learning communities worth it?

I think in order for it to be “worth it,” you have to be committed and involved in the LC activities (mostly in the first semester). The composition and personalities of kids in any LC varies from year to year. If there is a theme that you have a personal or academic interest in, then being involved should not be a problem. But, if you’re thinking of joining an LC just so that you can have priority in a particular dorm, you might be making a mistake.

Ditto the above. Apply for the program, not the dorm. If you are not committed to it you will be the outsider and that will change your freshman experience. The learning communities sound great for those who want the particular program. But- if the dorm itself just doesn’t appeal to you rank those dorms you like and know there will be others with your interests all over campus.
