Housing - Looking for roommates?

One of my friends was telling me how she was able to fill out a profile on her university’s website specifically for her housing application that would allow her to speak with other students who have accepted admission and have also finishing filling out their housing profiles; this allowed her to find roommates she would be compatible with on her university’s site. Naively thinking that all colleges offered a similar service, I anxiously filled out my Cal Poly housing app to find that you need to submit a Housing ID number of a student you know you want to share a room with.

Long story short… how would one go about finding other entering freshmen looking for roommates in order to be matched with someone more socially compatible? Are there websites that offer this service or am I missing something?

If you’re a facebook member, these two groups will help you with finding a roommate immensely.

[Login | Facebook](<a href=“Cal Poly SLO class of 2015 Public Group | Facebook”>Cal Poly SLO class of 2015 Public Group | Facebook)
On the above group, almost a thousand student, class of 2015, are on it and you can talk to whoever you want and meet a lot of new people, in the process of hopefully finding a roommate.

another group is this one: [Login | Facebook](<a href=“Cal Poly SLO class of 2015 Public Group | Facebook”>Cal Poly SLO class of 2015 Public Group | Facebook)

It isn’t as active, or doesn’t seem like it, but there’s a discussion board where plenty of fall freshman for the class of 2015 have posted roommate questionnaires so that’ll help you also

good luck!

I deleted my facebook a while ago (interfering with school and I’m actually more social without it now) and didn’t plan on making a new one until a few weeks before Welcome Week at Cal Poly. Although if this is going to be the only method of finding a roommate I’ll get along with and hopefully make friends with for at least the first year, then I might have no choice. Would you, or anybody else, happen to know of any other places to look?
