I just finished a housing profile which asks just a few questions about my preferences in regards to smoking, cleanliness, etc. Some questions I have are:
Will my roommate selection be chosen just off these few questions?
1)Yes
2)Usually August 1st
3)Roommates are a hit or miss. Those questionnaires fail to match other important things like how much a person a likes to party, how many guests you want over, room temp etc. For instance, my friend and his roommate were largely compatible according to the survey, but they were vastly different in some of the other qualities. I’d recommend searching the CO2019 Facebook page and at NSO for potential roommates. You will enjoy dorming so much more if you have some idea of what you’re signed up for. Most people’s experiences with going random have been fine, but the people who pick their roommates have an even better experience.
@Violet1996 I see there’s a list of prospective roommates on SPIRE, but what if I don’t choose any of these prospective roommates? Who will my roommate be? Just some random one the school assigns me?
Can you always go back and put the roommate you chose once you find someone or do you have to choose a roommate right away when filling out the housing application? @Violet1996
