Housing Swap

I thought I'd start a thread for people who are looking for room swaps for fall. I just got my room assignment today. I am looking to swap a room. I got assigned to Baits 1 in a single corridor room. It's non-smoking. I'm a male and looking for anything on central campus, preferably a double. What do you guys think my chances are?

how did you find out your room assignment?

Housing contracts have started going out.

Hey all.... I'm a male I got a Bursley double no smoking. Anyone want to switch for a hill/central assignment? Thanks PM if you want

Just so you guys know, there is a spot on the housing website for people looking to make switches.

UM Undergraduate Housing - Room Swap, Contract Reassignment & Waitlist Processes

Also, if you haven't signed/returned your contract, you can do a contract reassignment where you assume the housing contract of an upperclassman who signed up for student housing, but has since decided to move off-campus.

Right now somebody's looking to get rid of a contract in Couzens, and in the mighty 5th Gomberg, which is where my contract reassignment was to freshmen year (I didn't want to be stuck in an economy triple in Honors housing).

how specifically do we see our assignment? after clicking on the contract, do we have to choose our meal plan before it shows us which building we are in?

I believe so, I was actually coming to ask the same question. :)

Realistically, what are the chances of getting someone to swap from Central or East etc. to North Campus? My guess is that anyone in Engineering or Architecture etc. who wants to be in North already is or will be assigned there.

If 40% of Freshman are assigned to North, that makes a lot of people wanting to get out.

I have Couzens..anyone want to switch?
Prefereably South, West or Markley
No north.

Its a double by the way

Are you getting an email to let you know that you've received your housing assignment? My daughter has tried to find out via Wolverine Access and isn't able to select a meal plan.

Anyone want a double room in Mosher-Jordan? Its a renovated dorm with a new dining center, cafe, wireless and AC.

Just Kidding. :)

"how specifically do we see our assignment? after clicking on the contract, do we have to choose our meal plan before it shows us which building we are in?"

I have the same question.

Unless they've changed things pretty recently, your housing contract comes by mail, then at the beginning of August (assuming you sign/return your contract) you can get your specific room/roommate assignment online.

Are they basically renovating all the dorms one-by-one one year at a time to include air-conditioning and wireless?

I was just looking through the housing overviews (for room decorating ideas): UM Residence Hall Overviews. I almost want to move out of Martha Cook, but I know I'd regret it if I did.

begin rant One of the things I hate about this university is how many people opt to move off-campus to random places and do who knows what. It's college, it's supposed to be nice to live near everyone. It's already bad enough that people are isolated within their own dorms and communities, making friends with people in dorms, and so on. I came to this university to meet a diversity of people, not have the East Quad people isolated in East Quad and the South Quad people isolated in South Quad. end rant

I've got a double non-smoking in Markley (Hill). PM me if you're interested in a swap, make sure to tell me what you have!

i have a triple suite, non-smoking, in fletcher hall.

before anyone makes any offers though i'd like to know what fletcher is like from anyone that would know.. thanks

Fletcher Hall is in a class of isolated all it's own. It's only about 80 people. It's right by the IM building, but otherwise not really connected to campus (it's surrounded by off-campus housing). I think there's a kind of community kitchen, so you're not forced to get a meal plan (since you'd have to hike up to South Quad/West Quad for each meal). If you get along with the other people living there, I've heard it's a very good experience. If you don't....well, yeah.

How about Markley? AC? Wireless? What's the deal?

So, I signed my contract today and then looked at the contract reassignment board. I am interested in contacting one of the people on there. Do you think if I were to call the housing offices tomorrow and explain the situation, they would let me out of my contract a day after signed, and go ahead with this plan?
