I was admitted to the Class of 2021 at USC as an international student and awarded the Trustee Scholarship. I will be majoring in computational neuroscience at Dornsife.
How useful is it being a member of the Trojan Scholar Society? I know that some of the perks are being giving priority housing at the USC Village (McCarthy Honors College) and receving dedicated academic advisors.
Thanks!
As a Trustee scholar [ megga congrats] the benefits of going to USC are multiple- the enormous amount of money that USC is paying YOU to go to college, the ability to take Freshman Honors classes- both Thematic Honors and Freshman honors science classes taught by the best profs at USC- be sure to sign up for them! – which means enjoying smaller classes and labs filled with the smartest students at USC, the brand new honors housing in USC village, the ability to take an additional semester of classes free if you desire- but the best part is being able to put USC Trustee Scholar on your CV.
It is a well recognized Honor both within and well beyond the Trojan Alumni Family.
It will set you apart from other graduates long after you leave USC.
the Trojan Scholar Society is a nice place to meet other top students, but you’ll have more chances to do that if you sign up for Freshman Honors classes.
DS was a Trustee scholar and only went to 1 or 2 TSS events.
I’m a student attending USC without a scholarship, so my insight is limited but I’d say the ability to apply for “exceptional funding” which enables a student to take up to 26 units a semester in order to finish their degree objective faster/finish multiple degree objectives and still graduate on time is a major perk for scholarship recipients
For all students - The Academic Achievement Award (AAA) provides a tuition benefit to students who are pursuing multiple undergraduate degree objectives, have at least sophomore standing, and have earned a cumulative USC GPA of at least 3.750. AAA allows Fall or Spring registration of up to 21 units at the standard full-time tuition rate.
