I just got my MCAT score, i got a 29P. I realize this score is a little below the avg med school acceptance, so i was wondering if i should take it again? I goto UNF, in jacksonvile,FL. Im getting an Economics BBA and a Minor in Chem. My science gpa is 3.6 and i have 3.7 overall, what are my chances, should i re-take? I am planning on applying as early as possbile next yr, as i am graduating in may 09. Thanks for any input,

Not a substantive reply to your question, just some advice and an observation.

Observation: approximately half of all students admitted have MCATs below the mean of admitted students. Obviously the admission rate is higher for people with higher scores, but that MCAT score, BY ITSELF, should not keep you out.

What are your chances? Talk to the premed people at your college. They will have a much better idea of the prospects for someone with your grades and scores from their university. They will also be able to flesh out this projection by considering the rest of your application- extracurriculars, unique aspects, etc.

Should you take again? Don't decide until you hear what your premed people have to say. Depends on how your practice scores looked, how your SAT's looked (are you a good test taker, and this MCAT was way below expectation? Are you not so great at these tests and this score was on the high side for what you might expect?) As you know, it is time consuming and expensive, so do not just assume you need a higher score and invest your effort and money in this.

Your gpa sounds fine.
