Of course, Im aware this is not the only factor for admission. Ill be applying to a few ivies just for the heck of it, but my real worry is if these activities are good enough for Berkely, UCLA, and or USC.
-Humanitarian Club- (11th- present) (Participate in drives for items needed by the community)(30min/week during school)
-Local Church Religious Ed program (10th-11th, Student, self explanatory, 3,5 hrs/week ~40weeks)
-Church Volunteer (same one, 11th-present, helped with events for the community, occasionally)
-QuestBridge 2017 College Prep Scholar (11th, national selective program designed to help high-achieving low income students get to top colleges)
-Free Personal Tutor (10th- present I really like to help people out when they have trouble with their work, ~4.5hrs/week ~40weeks)
-MEChA Club (10th-Present, Vice President 11th and 12th, Hispanic student movement group, mainly we participate in local or reigonal events and help out ( Helping build floats for the rose parade, Day of the Dead event for the city, etc) and attend protests on issues we are passionate about (standing up for the “little guy”) 2.5hrs/week 45 weeks)
-College Bound Club (12th, Co founder, Vice President, Designed to build connections with students who arent necessarily high achieving. The club is open for all, but we target English learners who have had many obstacles in their lives so we can assure them that a college education is possible. We founders want to use ourselves as examples of success)
I do not really have that many activities. But also every activity that wasn’t a course or program was done because I honestly find joy in helping others in any way I can. However im not sure how colleges will take that as its something so many people can say, even if they do not mean it.
Also, with some of my activities I did not want to log my hours because I didnt want the person I was helping to think that I was helping just for the hours. Would colleges think I am lying if there is an inconsistency between my time spent and the hours on my logs?
Thanks for your time!
