How are the ivy global ssat preparation materials?

I got 94% in the ssat but I don’t deem it as a good score. Ipso facto, I would like to boost my score to 2300+. Are ivy global materials worthy to be such steep? I have half a year to prepare as I rescinded my bs app (I don’t have documentations for the financial aid app). Btw, is grade 10 admissions of Exeter more intense?

94% is excellent. Why do you want to take it again?

Ivy SSAT prep materials are good.

@mynameiswhatever simply because I am gonna apply next year

Got it. My bad! I should have read your post more carefully.

In any event, 94% is an absolutely wonderful score. There are others here who can tell you this with far better experience, but I don’t think there is really any difference between a 94% and 99% to any school, including the “top” ones.

Since you have to take it over again, Ivy is not bad at all. Good vocabulary and math sections.

94% is a tremendous score. I would focus on making sure your grades are the best they can be and get involved in a couple of more ECs or do what you can to enhance your standing in your favorite activity. You’ve past the first hurdle - the test. That’s an awesome score. I’m writing that twice because I want you to know that. Spend the next year on the other reasons that make you so special!

I personally used ivy global’s materials and I felt they were decent, but I also supplemented their materials with textbooks from Princeton Review which I found really helpful after learning the basics for the test.

I would highly recommend the Ivy Global books, especially the one for English. This has both the reading and vocab sections and plenty of high-quality questions. It also teaches how to write a good essay for that section. For me, it was second only to the official SSAT book practice (and online tools).

@willmo @CC4life what are ur scores

@NoJumpJustHum 99% twice in 8th grade, 99% once this year (for 9th grade)

@NoJumpJustHum overall 97%

@willmo @CC4life What other prep books did you use

@NoJumpJustHum Princeton Review books and the official SSAT online and bookwork.

I used the exact same thing as @willmo, you pretty much can’t go wrong with the three sources listed on this thread.

Thx!

@wilmo: You wrote that you scored 99% in the SSAT twice in the 8th grade. Why did you retake the SSAT after scoring a 99% ?

@Publisher I was trying to show that I had a strong interest in math, but I didn’t do too good in that section the first time. Also, I had paid for the next test already.

@wilmo: You certainly did well both times. Congratulations. Very impressive test results.

@NoJumpJustHum [I got a 2400] and I personally used Ivy Global, the Official SSAT Practice, Princeton Review and Barron’s. In my opinion Princeton was a waste of money but the other three are gems

@meitanteinatsu02 I agree with what you said about Princeton. The materials on the test were barely covered, especially the math portion.

It did teach me neat tricks that did come useful on test day(s) though. If I could go back, I would have picked up some of the other books.

@NoJumpJustHum From my experience, the most effective resource for the test, or at least a part of it, was quizlet. Never scored below the 90th percentile on the verbal section.

Ivy Global really helped me and was more engaging than Barron’s which I also purchased. I don’t like the official practice too much because it doesn’t have the most efficient methods. I feel that IvyG also has neat problems that trick you, which in turn allows you to understand concepts more.
