How bad does one W look when applying to med schools?

I'm taking Chem 1A during the winter intersession (I'm at a community college), and I don't feel prepared for it, so I want to withdraw and take it in the spring. If I get a 4.0 average in all my science courses, am I shooting myself in the foot by withdrawing from Chem1A?

One W won’t make a difference, but making it a habit will. I also wouldn’t take prereqs at a CC unless (maybe) you intend to take more upper-division classes at a 4-year university.

So should I get a W and I retake that class at a UC school?

That is a matter of debate. How sure are you that you won’t get an A in the class? While yes, it is best to take prerequsites at a UC, it is also harder to get an A, so you have to keep that in mind. AS the other poster said I doubt 1 W will hurt you, just don’t make a habit of it
