How bad will taking a sub. test 3 times look?

I mean I took Math IIC both in fresh / soph years. I got the same score. Is it ok to retake knowing almost 100% sure I can get an 800?

what did you get the first two times? in my opinion, its okay if you improve.

a 700, 750.. i know i am souding like a pretentious jerk to some but i am wondering.

i think your scores are fine. also, its a plus you took them in freshman/sophmore year.

what would you guys think about a 670 710 physics? Should retake?

^700 or above is enough. Seriously.

it matters where you're applying and what fields you're looking at. if you're applying to a super competitive school and the subject test is relevant to your major, an 800 on the third try might be worth it. in the end though, 3 times is a lot and its up to you.

Well my major for all schools is either bio or chem engineering or just biology (more rare). But I decided to get over it and get on with life.

take it again

sorry for hijacking the thread, but I got a 700 on history subject test. Should I retake? I'm pretty sure I can get at least 730 if I study and retake.

u.s. history or world history?

if you're sure you can get higher when you retake, do it.

US history.

I would like to study and retake, but I'm also studying for math II and literature, and would like to concentrate on studying for them if I won't need to study for history.

It's better to leave them wondering if you are OCD, than to retake a score of 700 or better and remove any doubt.

depends where you're applying. this year every student admitted to caltech had an 800 on the math section of the sat1...

wow, that's crazy zucky07. If you think you can do better on the next test, then by all means take it.

That's completely untrue. In fact, just a cursory search of the EA results thread yielded 4 students who did not have an 800 in math.

In response to the OP, if you believe that you can do better the third time, then by all means re-take it. However, 3 times is usually the limit for any one test (the general rule of thumb that is).
