How Bad Will This Hurt Me?

Ok, so I accidentally took more AP classes than I can handle, and I have a C- in AP calculus right now. I'm having a really hard time keeping up with the class, not really learning anything, and afraid I might get a D, which would be absolutely terrible.

My questions are:

1) How bad will it be for college admissions if I just drop AP calc, do teacher's assistant instead, and take calculus at a community college over summer or something?

and

2) How bad will it be for college admissions if I drop AP calc and switch to normal calculus (my school offers a non-AP calc)?

I'm asking because the 2nd option is a maybe right now because there's sort of a scheduling/teacher switch issue if I switch to normal calc. Also, my ap calc teacher commended me on taking a step back and realizing that I need to go at a slower pace to better learn calc.

Thank you so much in advance

Well… it depends on what type of schools you’re looking at. If they aren’t too competitive, just drop Calc altogether.

I had a C+ in Calc BC, but by then Yale had already accepted me by EA. I stuck with it and got a B range second semester. No reason sticking with something that you might get a D in… that would be far worse for admissions.

The schools I’d like to get into are fairly competitive:
-Boston College (Carroll)
-University of Texas (McCombs)
-Carnegie Mellon (Tepper)
-USC (Marshall)
-UCLA
-UCSD
-Claremont Mckenna

I’d have to send a letter to the UCs to which I’ve already applied to that I’ve dropped AP calc which could be more problematic than the other schools I’ve applied to maybe

I’ve already been accepted to Oxford College of Emory University.
