I have an "average" gpa (3.7), but my school is super competitive and the school is brand new btw. I am top 5% even after taking 12 APs! How can I prove the competitiveness of my school to adcoms? Thanks.

Average SATs. They know without you telling them.

can we check our schools average test scores online or any place like that?

Probably. The scores for my school are available... try google?

Like I said, our school is new. We dont have test averages as of yet. I did score well on the SAT though (2200+).

Then... relax? It's their job to figure it out because otherwise they can't convert your grades to their scale. So let them work.

There is really no way for you to prove how competitive your high school is. Since it is new, it is likely that it won't be very well known among colleges. If you have an experienced college counselor who has connections with most of the top universities, however, it shouldn't be a problem. Otherwise, it might be difficult for you to get into elite colleges with an "average" GPA from a new high school.

They convert grades?

What is the average SAT for a competitive high school? 1200 +?

Even thought I have average GPA, I took 15 APs (all 4s and 5s), 9 SAT IIs (6 750+, 3 700+0, 33 ACT, and 2250 SAT I. I also have great ECs. I hope those can make up for poor gpa. My weighted GPA is 4.6 with 12 AP courses and I am top 5%.

Note: ALOT of the AP exams I self studied.

What are you stressing about?
You're fine.. you co-founded three businesses..
Don't be a loser and live on CC questioning yourself. Go get a life. Go do something that's not business. Go play an instrument

your low gpa of 4.66...am i missing something here?

You are top 5%! Don't worry.
I was about 100th in a class of 360 and i got into a very competitve school... Don't worry...

Adcoms are really good at their jobs. They review so many applicants every year that they pretty much have a good idea of the relative competitiveness of your school from its application history, especially since an officer usually only covers a small area (and thus gets to know a school/counselor pretty well). They probably have their ways of finding out about new schools as well.

LOL 4.66 average GPA and u call that POOR? LOL ok buddy...
if i was in ur position i would be applying for ivy leagues

My school, at least, has a school profile they stick in. Yours might too. Ask them about it; it'll have an explanation of your school and so forth. On the counselor forms, too, there's stuff to answer about APs offered and stuff. Don't sweat it.

api score?

my high school has an average sat of like 860. ouch. I hope that doesn't hurt me, I'm ranked like 12/1100 students. However, I have terrific, difficult teachers this year, so the quality of my own education, at least, is good.

It's strange at my school. Despite the fact that our school average SAT score is about 1000 (old), we have a small select class of students who take on more difficult classes. Almost as if the school were divided between the high achieving and the low achieving. For instance, I only see about the top 30 people (rankwise) out of about 400. So what kind of situation would this be? Hard classes but weighted lowly in the adcom's eyes?
