How can I get accepter into Fordham University?

Hello, I am currently an undergrad at Monroe College, and graduating from my associates in business this summer. However, I was looking into attending Fordham University and there is a few things i'm not clear about. Do they require for you to work? if not, what can they offer as far as a financial aid package? I honestly wouldn't mind paying at least 10k for the year since it'll only be for 2 years??? any advice will be great thanks.
And also what are the professors and staff like? I heard the school is a challenge and I definitely want that. ;-)

Forham is a Jesuit/Roman Catholic school, and as such I believe it will employ a truly holistic approach to your application. Frankly, I’d write to the dean of students and explain your situation. As men of God, I know they will be understanding. But you have to meet them at least halfway with the likes of a very good Monroe transfer GPA and accepting work study if offered. Also study the Jesuit order and understand the dedication to educating the world. If you should write, demonstrate a little knowledge about the order.

^ Dunno where that response came from. I smell a ■■■■■.

Fordham is a secular school “in the Jesuit tradition.” The board of trustees is made up mostly of wealthy businessmen, not priests. Most of the faculty and staff are not priests and do not work at Fordham because it’s a Jesuit institution but because it’s a university. If the office of financial aid is staffed by “men of God,” it’s wholly accidental, due entirely to there being many Christians in America willing to take jobs in financial aid offices. But even though Fordham is a secular institution, it chooses certain policies–in residential life (no men and women sharing suites), health services (no condoms available on campus), and campus ministry (many Jesuits on the payroll), for example–to respect its Jesuit heritage. But the university has not been “run” by Jesuits for many, many years. Except for the handful of Jesuits, faculty and staff are as they would be in any midranked private university: teaching quality is hit-and-miss, since research is a driving factor in tenure-track hiring, and staff will either help you work around the bureaucracy or pretend to be completely immobilized by same.

kaym, don’t write to the dean of students. Writing to him will not help you get in, and it will not help you get financial aid. Instead, you should send in a transfer application–there should be instructions on the Fordham website–and make sure your essay for that is well-thought-out and grammatically sound. I don’t know if it’s too late to apply for fall admission, though.

You don’t have to work to attend the university, although your financial aid package would probably include work-study, so you would have to work to claim those few thousand dollars. And unless you’re very poor or very smart, Fordham would cost you much more than $10k a year. Emailing the office of financial aid (financialaid@fordham.edu) might be a good first step in determining whether you’d be able to afford to attend.

Good luck getting in and getting money.

Hey angle, thank you so much for replying. However, I think I’m going for Pace university instead. I spoke to a financial aid officer and she said that they wouldn’t know what I’ll be receiving in my FA package until after I apply, so more or less I dont know, but if its over 10k then I would rather go to Pace university since they offer a good financial aid package. and thanks again
