Alright guys,
I plan to apply into SDSU this fall, and this came into my mind. See, my parents are divorced. While looking at the financial aid part of the CSU system, they would ask me what my parents TOTAL income was. The thing is, my mom only makes around $30k annually, while my father makes over $70k . Once they hear my dad is an engineer making that much, they will turn me down. But i primarily live with my mom. How can I do this so that I can get aid under my mom without breaking any rules? SDSU will almost be free under my mom, but full cost with my dad involved.

Since that is a FAFSA only school, you ONLY use the income info of your custodial parent…your mom.

Just to let you know, my mom makes less than your mom and I didn’t get anything but loans.

Oh wow…that sucks! Flutetop.

Flute…if your mom earns less than $30k (and doesn’t have assets and you don’t have assets), then you should qualify for Pell Grant.

Are you the student who has an error on your FAFSA which gives you a high EFC because the school thinks you live with your dad and is using his income? Or the school has added in child support that was NEVER received??? If so… Have you contacted the school to let them know that you live with your mom??

I did contact my school and they did redo it and I still didn’t get a grant, just loans.

What is your new EFC^^^

Are they using your mom’s info? Does your mom’s info still have that WRONG info of child support received? If so, THAT needs to be corrected.
