I am looking at the websites for several colleges, and though I have heard that at least one of them tracks interest, I don't see anything on the websites for any of them that would indicate that. One site (Duke) specifically says that campus visits are NOT considered in the admissions decision. Where would we find out if a school we are interested in does track interest and what they actually keep track of?

Common data set, section C7 will tell you. So will the admissions tab in the college’s entry at [CollegeData: College Search, Financial Aid, College Application, College Scholarship, Student Loan, FAFSA Info, Common Application](http://www.collegedata.com) .

What each college uses to track interest varies, and may not be publicly available. So people may be guessing as to whether getting recorded as attending a college recruiting event, pestering the admissions office with emails, having visits recorded, checking the admissions portal on the web site frequently, etc. matters (along with the obvious writing of a good answer to the “why this college?” question on the application).
