<p>I’m not sure why the “devision” is so random, but the decisions are random because there are tons of good canidates but only a limited number of spots.</p>

<p>When people in the admissions office like that of Harvard receive the applications, they will be divided into 3 piles: near-automatic acceptances, possibles, and rejections.</p>
<p>Then there’s committee, people vote and sound their opinions on applicants, etc… it is in no way a crapshoot, though many think that it is.</p>
