How come there is a cap on how many people we can put on our ignore list?

I feel the cap is very restrictive. I’ve almost hit it- 5 people!

At least for me, the cap doesn’t actually work. I just go to the user’s profile and click ignore. I have wayyyy more than five on ignore.
