I am a CompEng major currently at UCSD and received my acceptance to CAL this afternoon. I will most likely transfer to CAL this fall. I was wondering how much harder and more competitive EECS is at CAL compared to similar CE curriculum at lets say UCSD (more generally to CE programs at other 4-yr colleges)? Any responses are greatly appreciated.

I hear that there are some large study groups of friends that help each other out and do homework together. I think that if you can stay in the top half of the students, you're pretty set. Do you really mean competitive, or how hard do they grade, or what?

Both competitiveness and coursework/grading. Thanks for replying so quickly btw.

In the few EE courses I've taken, the curve was tough, and the average midterm score was ~50%. It's competitive and demanding in that sense, but the professors realize they're pushing their students to the limits and try to curve accordingly. Not all the classes are curved though. Regardless, you'll almost def. have to study harder, but if you do, it'll pay off.

It's very competitive, but from what I understand, the grading is tight but not brutal, especially in the last 2 years. You'll probably do OK since you got into the program as a tranfer from a very good UC, and if you're willing to take on the challenge.

thanks for the comments guys
