My son is considering starting grad school at Georgetown in August. How face-to-face or remote are academics and campus life this spring? Though we don’t have a crystal ball, is there good reason to think that the campus experience may be limited this fall?
Mentioned this in the other thread as well but all seniors are back on campus, with hybrid classes to start up in the next two weeks (cases spiked when people came back, as predicted, so they’re holding off until the numbers look better). Georgetown’s already announced an in-person summer experience for the first-years who never got their proper freshmen year, so that seems to indicate they’re pretty confident about the Fall, even if other restrictions like distancing & face masks are likely to continue in the near future.
Thanks - that’s good info.
It’s very restricted. All undergraduate classes are remote/online and have been for the entire academic year. Students living in DC but off campus aren’t even allowed in the library to study. Seniors and students who are housing insecure are living in the dorms. Some athletic teams are allowed on campus. The summer program that was offered to the class of 2024 is $7500 for 4 weeks and they haven’t announced if the classes will be in-person.
Announced today that the plan is for the entire university community to be back in the fall: https://twitter.com/GtownVoice/status/1375223417696186368
Excellent - thanks!
