My son is having a tough time finding a summer job, which is crucial since my husband and I are supplying tuition, books, housing/food and he must come up with spending cash. He is being offered a camp counselor job but is being told he must commit to August 25. Freshman orientation starts August 21. Will he be totally out of the loop and not bonding with his fellow freshman if he doesn't arrive til the 25th?

I know it would be ideal to start early, but at least it helps that he's visited the campus 3 times, including a 2 week film camp at Dodge last summer, so he's very familiar with the campus and the Dodge facilities.

I think it is critcal that he attends. This is a mandatory program that familiarizes incoming students with the academic and social aspects of Chapman University.

The last week of sumer camp many councilor need to leave early depending upon when their school starts. The camp will figure out something. He can commit to staying if that what he needs to get the job but then in August he can let them know he is leaving a week early. It is only for the Freshman year.
