How Detrimental Is This For Competitive Schools?

So I had all A’s in my entire high school career, but during my first semester of Junior year I got a B+ in Chinese III Honors and during the second semester of Junior year I got a B+ in AP Chemistry/
I know colleges prefer an upward trend but would having one B+ in each semester of my Junior year affect me a lot if I’m looking to apply to competitive schools like MIT?
I know this question may seem stupid but I’m looking for a legitimate answer because I don’t know how colleges view this.
Thank you!

One thing does not reject you from college. That 1 b will not matter, but if you have a series of things like that i might.

So those two B+'s will matter to college admissions?

Not really…

It helps if you have stunning ECs, if that helps.

No it won’t hurt

two does not equal a series. You’re fine. If anything, it helps your case. IMHO, having a couple A-s or B+s shows that your course load was challenging for you and you pushed yourself. Someone who has all As (no A-'s) most likely is not challenging themselves to their fullest extent. At least, that’s what I think.

Agreed. You may still get rejected; most applicants are rejected. However, it is unlikely, IMO, that any rejection will be due to one or two B+'s.
