Every now and then I noticed a pro from NYC followed him. He was the lead in his Midwestern hs musical, no auditions or tryouts for summer or college programs. He submitted one hs level audition through acceptd.
Now he will be a vp major at our state flagship. (Auditioned in May thanks to a well connected teacher.)
I know people on Twitter want a follow back but he doesn’t even pay attention.
Just curious if anyone has inside information
He probably used a hashtag that caught their attention. I wouldn’t worry about it. A lot of people will follow others with similar interest on Twitter with hopes for a followback. If there is no reciprocity they will often drop the person they are following.
My D had several programs contact her (including Interlochen!), but they stated they identified her through her acceptd profile. We were not aware that these data were shared with anyone other than the program for which they were originally uploaded, but that seems not to be the case.
No hashtags are used. Are there workshops/classes/coaching that ask you to refer 3-10 friends for a discount? He has some friends at Pace and AMDA that do follow these people. I actually wondered if “friends” are giving out his name?
That could be. But having a Twitter follower isn’t invasive (or are you worried that he might represent himself in a poor light on social media? If that is the case, I recommend that he do what a lot of my kids’ friends did during application and audition season: either shut down social media or change their name temporarily.)
