If the libraries were closed in 2020 due to COVID 19, how did students do their research to write research papers or thesis?

Students could still get books at libraries. I’m sure different libraries had different practices, but in general, you would reserve the book online and pick it up at a special holding area in the library lobby, or just outside the library. It also depends on if you are talking about college or community libraries.
Books, internet and imagination were out best friends.
