so, now that most seniors have all there acceptance (and maybe some rejection) letters, how exactly did you celebrate? did your parents take you out or give you something? did you do something with your friends?

i didnt do much since my friends didnt really apply to the same schools i did. and i'm not trying to sound pompous or anything, but they were like "maybe i'll just go to a community college or whatever". so i felt kinda bad to be like "hey look, i got into stanford and duke and will be moving away from all of you and not see you guys for a long time because i'll be at a really great school......" i just didnt want to rub it in thier face.

and my parents just said "well, you're proabably going to have to go to a public school anyway because we might not be able to afford it. and the course load is easier at public schools anyway. you might be overwhelmed at those pretigious colleges." so much for confidence in me....

anyway, just wondering if anyone else had a non-exciting experience when you found out you got accepted to your dream schools. hope it was better than my experience. sucks because its not often you have the chance to be excited over something so big. when i found out i was already kinda p.i.s.s.e.d. at my parents since they kept saying even if i got accepted it would probably be to much financially and pressure-wise for me. i didnt work hard during hs to get into a public school, or simply a pretigious school either. i worked hard for stanford and duke, but they don't really see that. i'll tell people that aren't my friends or parents and they're more excited for me than they are or i am.

oh well, at least i got accepted. wow, this post is really long. it was only supposed to be the first 3 questions. i guess i'll stop venting now. so were you guys happy and was anyone else happy for you. hope so. if not, i think it's safe to say we are all proud of ourselves...so congrats to everyone....and good night, I'm going to bed now...

Haha. I'm a junior so I haven't yet had this experience...but I want to wish you good luck, coqui, wherever you wind up. I think you'll do great at Stanford or Duke.

I've always wondered though, what you do with acceptance/rejection letters...do you frame them, store them away someplace, or just trash them...

I didn't do anything when I got in. The schools I got into were safetly schools so I wasn't really surprised, or excited. I celebrated with my friend when we got rejected from UCLA though! Kind of a pity party I guess!

i'm not sure yet. stanford is reviewing my fin aid. duke is the cheapest of the two by abour 8K. and the public school is 5K cheaper than duke. i really want to go to stanford, but if not, duke's fine. but my parents are for the public school. it sux.

i'm praying stanford gives me a better deal than duke, but i still would love to go to duke. so we'll see.

I celebrated my NASA SHARP acceptance last night with lots of chocolate! Milanos and Reeses Peanut Butter Cups :) I was so nervous about the decisions that I couldn't sleep a couple nights before, so once the weight was lifted off my shoulders I ate my chocolate and fell asleep. I don't know how I'm going to stand college decisions if a summer program decision was this stressful. I really hope everything works out well for you, coqui, though :)

The acceptance came so soon for U of I that I didn't really have to wait. Actually my dad knew before I did. He just looked up from the computer the day after I sent it in and was like, "You got in" and my family just laughed b/c it all happened so damn fast. Any other acceptances I didn't care about except WashU which I didn't get.

It was actually my acceptance to the Campus Honors Program at U of I that I freaked out about. I was so happy. That had to be one of my proudest achievements.
