coureur, parlez-vous fran

My neighbor whose DD was going into Music Ed told me about it when we were talking about the whole difference between regular admissions and audition based admissions. I was so glad to have some help figuring out the whole process and what to do. We were total neophites with no GC help. I only wish we had found it sooner. So I stay around to pay it forward.

Son’s public HS guidance counselor office listed it as one of about six recommended sites (inc. FAFSA, CollegeBoard, etc.)

I was looking for message boards where I could find parents about to send a kid off to college. Voila!

Years ago when trying to find out when Williams would be releasing its ED decisions.

There was a similar thread a few years back.

I found CC when googling a summer program my S was interested in attending.

When PMKjr was on a three year high school plan, he came home and told us that due to his PSAT score, he had “made the cut off.” This meant nothing to us. The next day he came home, told us how his teachers had all congratulated him and so I decided to look up “National Merit PSAT.”

Thank goodness I found CC. PMKjr is now at a student at a university I heard about for the first time here at CC! It’s a wonderful fit and he received very generous merit aid. It’s still a little strange to me to think how much one website, and it’s wonderful community, changed my son’s life and all for the better.

Thank you, CC!

I found CC through another mom, when we were at a parents’ workshop at our kids’ HS learning about college application procedures, FAFSA, CSS Profiles, finaid etc.
So glad she pointed me to CC.

vraiment?!

GC said she hated CC. So immediately I looked it up! (Now I hate it too 'cause I can’t get off it!)

Why’d she say she hated it?

Like many I found it via a “google search”. My kids are not on CC, but occasionally if they have a question they will ask me to “ask my friends”.

I found it searching for something about college admissions when my '09 college grad was a HS junior, so I guess that was about 7-8 years ago…

The CC at D’s bs recommended it to all the parents.

Hm, the BS CC recommended CC? Haha, wish I understood this.

Liv4 She only hated it because some people get their info from this site and sometimes believe the info here over her researched (and I will say very good) advice. Still, this is more fun and very illuminative!

I also found CC when I was googling something college related for my S1. My kids are not on CC, but they do laugh at me and my invisible friends, which we now refer to as my iFriends.

my son laughs at me too…BUT…that didnt stop him from asking me to ask a question on here he needed an answer to.

I found a reference to CC in another college discussion website, Admissions Advice dot com. At that time many participants in that site had few nice things to say about the people at CC, but since I was never able to create a login there (and who knows why, maybe my address was just eaten by the spam filter) I found myself spending more and more time here. I can’t remember how I learned about that other website, maybe from the Admissions101 discussion group at the Washington Post?

And as far as I can tell, the discussion group at that first site is dead and gone, so I am pretty sure that I ended up with the right bunch of people!
