Hello,
I am currently a college Junior at a renowned state university, trying to decide if I would like to continue an M.A. after receiving my B.A. in English. I see that UC Berkeley has one of the best English graduate programs in the U.S., and would also love to continue to go to school in the San Francisco Bay Area.
I am curious to know if anyone can share statistics or personal experiences regarding the level of difficulty required to get accepted to UC Berkeley for grad school. More specifically, for Berkeley’s English graduate program. Do they offer a M.A. in English, or only a Ph.D.? What’s the acceptance rate like- 2%, 20%, etc. Finally, what would a promising applicant have in order to have a chance? (Gpa, gmat scores, letters of rec., etc.)
Would be more than happy to here any personal stories which pertain as well.
Thank you!

This says they only offer PH.D degrees.
It doesn’t give the acceptance rate, but it’s probably below 10% like most graduate programs. You’d probably need a 3.8~3.9+ GPA in undergrad along with great letters of recommendation to stand a chance of getting in. Good luck!
