Hi guys, can anyone supply me with any info on how difficult pre-med truly is? I’m currently a highschool senior who is somewhat interested in pre-med. I already got into a bs-md (California northstate although I am somewhat mixed about it) yet I may choose to go to a 4 year university instead. I know this question is somewhat subjective because it depends on the school (ex. UCB with hecka grade deflation), but if I go to a private university on a pre med path, is it incredibly difficult? I’m currently taking 4 AP’s rn yet I know college is harder than highschool, so should I expect a rlly difficult time going on a pre-med track and getting into medical school? I’m just scared that pre-med is as difficult as rumors say it is. Thank you!
It’s estimated that 70-75% of those that start as premed change their minds, and of those who actually get to point of applying, 60% will not start at any med school.

So in answer to your question “… should I expect a rlly difficult time going on a pre-med track and getting into medical school?” ……yes you should expect a really difficult time on premed track and getting into medical school. Make sure you have a Plan B should you change your mind.
Yes, it is. Not so much because the coursework is insanely difficult, but more because the competition to get the high GPA, high MCAT and appropriate ECs is extremely challenging.
Most pre-meds will NOT end up with an acceptance to med school.
Make sure you have Plan B.
Every premed I know who made it to med school was VERY serious about their college academics. They got tutoring, worked ahead before the seventeenths started, and studied like crazy.
If you are serious about medicine then pursue it, if not then don’t waste your time because it is very tedious and you won’t enjoy it if you aren’t serious.
