How do colleges differentiate between different weighting scales?

I have been growing concerned about my W and UW GPA.

At my school to get a 4.0 UW GPA you need to have 100%, but I have learned that many schools you only need all A’s to get a 4.0.

I have also realized that other schools weigh GPA’s heavier than my school. NOBODY at my school has a 5.0 GPA. Over valedictorian last year had a 4.3 GPA.

How will colleges take into account the different GPA weight?

Each college will look at your transcript and school profile and compute its own weighted GPA based on their criteria.

Typically they just unweight. Some high schools don’t weight at all.

Colleges normally have their own GPA formula that they will use to standardize all the applications (since some schools are on 4.0, 5.0, 100 or any variation scale)

@GAB444 Colleges will also look at your HS profile, which will explain grade distribution, how GPA is calculated, range of SAT/ACT scores, etc. The more selective colleges also focus on the rigor of your classes and your overall transcript.
