I organized my own fundraiser and raised $5,000 for cancer research (10th grade). I created diversity clubs to get more of the minorities involved in school, and it worked out fine (11th grade). So how do colleges find all of this out?! I'm scared that they might not believe me and reject me or worse, rescind me (Oh, the horrid feeling of being rescinded!), if I do not have any proof. Any help here, guys?

How can there be “no proof” of your group giving $5k towards cancer research??

Usually colleges just trust you. (There have been stories in the pasts of people lying about amazing ecs-but colleges usually find out. I remember hearing one a few years ago-I think the school called his parents/ people he said he had worked with when they got skeptical. Don’t worry-if your being honest you shouldn’t fear any negative action towards yourself)

There is always proof such as third party reports or cancelled checks, etc. It’s virtually impossible to be in any legitimate, organized EC without having some sort of proof. BTW never worry about telling the truth. Also Adcom is an expert at sniffing out EC puffery. Stay on the straight and narrow.

They usually just trust you, but they can tell when ECs are exaggerated or fake. And while there should always be proof, colleges won’t ask for it unless it’s something suspicious, and your ECs sound fine.
