Hey CC, I'm an upcoming junior in High School, and I'm currently in Varsity football and track, but do not participate in any clubs. Since there are football practices everyday in the beginning of the year, it is very difficult to join any clubs and be successful in them. After looking through posts, many people on CC are dedicated to several clubs and I was wondering how heavily sports weigh against clubs in regards to college applications- especially since I'm average at the two sports (Maybe couple all-conference awards, but definitely not good enough to be recruited D-1). In my opinion I believe that sports require much more commitment than that of clubs.

Certainly not true, at least in my school... but then again clubs at my school don't meet at the same time as sports, so there's not time conflict.

In response to your question, not sure- but it would definitely depend on the university in question.

I would think they would be regarded the same...not sure, though.

sports, especially varsity, require above and beyond the commitments of almost 99% of clubs. Those active in clubs are often athletes at my school too because athletes are typically hard workers. This view probably does not hold true at every school but it is true at almost all the schools I know of and have friends at.
