How do colleges view your rank?

Hello,

I just had a quick question that’s been on my mind for sometime now. I am ranked 23/548. This is in the top 4.2%. Do colleges view my rank as top 4.2% or only the top 5%. So could I be anywhere in the top 5% and would it be the same weightage on my application?

Don’t think there’s a big difference between 4.2% and 5%. I wouldn’t worry about it at all…

Once you’re in the top 10% it makes no difference what your position is.

Unless you’re competing for automatic admissions to colleges, like UT, that have a higher cut-off.

@GMTplus7 So the people ranked 1-3 do not have an advantage over the person ranked 40 in a class of 415. This is my situation so just wondering.
