How do current scholarships affect transfers?

Like say I am on a merit scholarship right now that is given by my current school, how will this affect me as a transfer?

I am trying to transfer out from UCSD btw, applying to Cal, Stanford, and MIT. I am especially interested in how Cal would perceive this, would they reject me right out to protect the interests of UCSD? Or would they not really care?

I am in a situation similar to this, and was also wondering something along this line, if anyone might know. However, my question is slightly different: if one applies to a less rigorous school from a more prestigious one, would there be a better chance of receiving a scholarship from the school we are applying to if we have a merit scholarship at our current school, or would this just hurt our situation?

subject - it wont really affect you...i would put it in your resume because if its merit then you're obviously doing well, which is great...i doubt they will reject you because of a scholarship (technically, if the school is need-blind, they definently wont care), and especially to "protect interests" because if youre a good student, theyd rather you boost their numbers than UCSD

seth - having a merit scholarship anywhere is great, much like i told subjecttochange, so its worth mentioning, especially at a good school...im not sure if it would help you recieve a scholarship for many reasons (they dont have a scholarship program, you dont fit their criteria, they only give need-based, ect)...but im sure if you have a scholarship at this school, it wouldnt be hard to find another one!

bottem line: having a merit scholarship currently looks great...they're not going to hate you for having a scholarship at your school, even if it shows total commitment to your school...if you're applying to transfer somewhere, obviously you want to go there, and they know that
