After you register online, and you go to visit, when you get to the information session/campus tour, do you have to sign in and provide proof that you registered online? What other things should I do to prepare for a campus visit?

We just walked in and gave the name used to register. I don’t think there are a lot of people trying to scam their way in. 
There was a presentation/slideshow type thing in a small auditorium, then they broke us up into tour groups to walk around. To prepare I’d say make sure you wear comfortable clothing and shoes (and if you go in the summer, make sure you’re ready for the heat!), and have any questions ready. Beyond general questions, you may wish to ask how you’d go about connecting with a particular department or area, if that’s something you’d like to do. The tour guides are great and will find out the answers to anything they don’t already know.
