Hi, I saw in my rejection letter that USC allows appeals though they are unlikely. I had a lot of additional circumstances that I wish to explain. I did write 1 sentence saying I broke my femur and had childhood epilepsy. Still, I did not go into detail, thinking it would show weakness. There is one situation that I was wondering if I should explain. At the end of my junior year, I got a C+ due to a very biased teacher in AP English who had personally bullied me for 2 yrs. Whenever I missed a class due to a doctor’s app. she would say such ¨were you sick with anxiety again¨ and make other untrue remarks in front of the course. In the end, she retired and gave me a 0 on the final project that I spent months preparing for. The principal told me that all grades are final. My poor education at my hs reflected within my grades unfairly and many others…
Would this lower my chances if I incuded such? Also, in my junior year, I lost a close friend, my uncle who was pretty much my dad and my grandpa which I also didńt want to explain worrying that they would see look at my app like im trying to make a bunch of excuses. On the otherhand, I do not have much to add.I won an award through Kiwanas where they pick one student in my county to win teen leader award and Im trying my best to plan my two-week hiking trip for my environmental expedition club I founded this year, I had to finish track season without it barely starting due to covid-19and I got an A in college chem and Spanish for winter quarter. I have gotten into the University of Washington honors program( should I mention that in my appeal?). Still, I was hoping to leave the Seattle area and go to USC, where I believe Is the best fit can continue my environmental and art¨endevours.¨ as it has smaller class sizes, undergraduate research and better resources for outreach and hands-on learning. Also, after visiting, I just felt that USC was a much better fit over UW. Should I focus on additional circumstances that affected my grades? Or should I focus on other characteristics and qualities which would allow me to stand out? Also, my friend wrote a very thoughtful letter of rec for me, should I include quotes from that? Any tips on creating a successful appeal would be much appreciated.
