I need to submit two international student forms to my colleges.

International student certification of finances

International student financial aid application

As far as I know,

1 is to prove that I can afford the college tution and fees in order to get the visa (correct me if i’m wrong)

2 is to show that I do not have enough money for college and thus need financial support.

These two forms seem to totally contradict one another. What do I do?
If I fill in enough amount for the certification of finances, my financial aid application won’t make any sense any more. But if i do NOT fill in enough amount, I will probably have promblems getting the visa, and my colleges won’t accept me unless they can give me financial aid. I still want to have a chance getting into them and attending them, even if i do not get FA. (Theoretically, my family has enough money to support me with college, but if they do so, the rest of the family will have some financal difficulties…that’s why I’m applying for FA.) Some of the schools i’m applying to are not need-blind for internationals. So I need to be careful with what i write for those two forms…

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If the college/university requires it, you should complete it.
I had the same problem, but then I realized that the C. of finances is to prove to the institution which will give you the visa that you have enough money (including the financial aid the university will give to you;) )

they r not for visas!!!

1.if u need financial aid on the basis of need write what u can pay(maybe 2k,4k,10k depends on yr finances)
2. show your sources (if u r paying 2k then show how u will pay) but u wont be given what u say…ur need will be determined by the college

If the college is need blind u don’t need big amt…write only what u can pay

thanks both of you.

megaaadi, what do you mean with 2k 4k 10k??
some of my colleges are not need-blind. how much do you think would be appropriate for the non need-blind ones? (when tuition+fees=around 50,000dollars)

2K 4K 10K were the examples of your contribution frm family…like if u can pay 2000/4000 so on…It depends on your finances…

I didn’t apply to non need blind schools…As far as I know you will get accepted in such colleges without sending yr finances …After they give the merit based aid (if 20000) ,you have to send the certi of finances by showing u can pay 30000…
