Deferred yesterday. Barely started supplements for other schools. Everything I write sounds cliched, stupid, boring. I am not exaggerating when I say that I have 10 essays to write before the end of the year and I am questioning everything about the process. ANy ideas?

I’m in the same boat. I’m applying to like, 10 colleges (8 of them are “stretch” colleges) so I have a lot of essays to write. I was denied by two of them and am re-applying, so I know all about discouragement. I am intending to major in English so I will pretty much be writing all the time. The best advice I can offer is actually work on multiple essays at one time. This way, you can stop working on one and move your mind in a different direction as you’re working on another one. I usually get writer’s block when I’m forced to constantly think about a single idea without any sort of break. It helps to get my mind off of it and think about something else for a while. Working on multiple essays at once isn’t for everybody, though. Just don’t stress. You’ll be fine

By the way, I am forever writing essays and although people say I’m a good writer, I HATE my writing. I think it is boring and objective. It might help to read other people’s essays because it will give you a new perspective and hopefully, some inspiration.
