i want to start visiting colleges over spring break (2 weeks of vacation 2 weeks from now), and i was wondering how you schedule visits to take tours of campus. do you even have to sign up or do you just show up? if you do have to sign up, where and how do you do it? i want to visit BC, villanova, fordham, and possibly colgate and/or providence. how do i do this? is it too late?!?!

I have been doing the same thing. You have to go to the website for each school to get the times for tours and information sessions. Some schools also let you sit in on a class. Some schools want you to reserve a space and other schools just say to show up at a certain place. On the school website look under admissions then visiting under that. Have fun!

yeah, if there's no place to sign up online, call the admissions office

Yes, you need to sign up and then SIGN IN when you go there. Many schools(esp. private ones)track your interest in their schools by your visits and phone calls. Also, if you need to call them, have your CHILD call...they also note when parents are doing all the work! You should also schedule a class, eat at a big student hangout off campus(so the student can picture where he will be hanging out), eat at the dining hall, talk to someone in the dept. your son is interested in, tour lab facilities if he is engr./science major. Just some basics.

Not all schools want you to sign up in advance -- many say show up at the designated time/place. Also, be sure to "read the fine print" for each school -- some may be on their spring break when you want to go, and the times for Info Sessions &/or Tours may be different.

it depends on the school. some schools require reservations while others do't want you to both. it usually says it on the website. just look at the times for info sessions and tours and make sure you call ahead to ensure that a tour or info session will be going on.
