How do Ivies calculate CRS for homeschoolers?

CRS (Converted Rank Score) is a component of AI (Academic Index) that is used in every Ivy's admission process. How do they calculate CRS for home-schooled applicants, since every homeschooler ranks 1 out of 1?

They can't.

Every school I've talked with says the same thing - since home-schooolers don't have GPAs that can be "verified" (other than actual courses taken at other accredited institutions), they have to rely on giving heavier weight to standardized test scores (SAT, ACT, SAT IIs and APs) - they also look more closely at extra curriculars, essays and interviews.

Bottom line, if they want to accept a certain home-schooler they will and if they don't, they won't - regardless of the GPA or Rank that a parent assigns.

My son's results were the same as if they extrapolated his SAT Is and IIs.

May have changed so I won't mention the school, but a few years ago I was told by an area university that they gave homeschoolers a 50%ile because they were both highest and lowest. Seems unfair.
